Dr. Jay Lund, distinguished professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, College of Engineering, and Vice Director of the Center for Watershed Sciences, has been awarded the Academic Senate's 2023 Distinguished Research Award. Congratulations Dr. Lund! 

Dr. Lund has been acknowledged by the Academic Senate for his pioneering contributions to groundwater management, reservoir operations, water conservation, ecosystem management, solid waste management, and transportation. His innovative research has yielded significant theoretical advancements in diverse fields such as integrated water and environmental management, water markets, demand conservation, game theory, and large-scale water operations. In addition, Dr. Lund has earned a prominent reputation as an international leader in the theory and practice of water resources systems analysis and has provided guidance to government agencies and organizations on water management issues.
