NPR's "All Things Considered": California's wet winter & the ecological benefits of activated floodplains.

California has experienced a series of severe storms and intense rainfall this year – but what are the benefits? The storms and heavy rainfall in California throughout the year has led to flourishing vast expanses of wildflowers and has also given a much-needed impetus to certain endangered ecosystems in the state. Among the benefits include activated floodplains that are currently providing an abundance of food for juvenile salmon. Listen to Carson Jeffres, UC Davis Center for Watershed Science's Researcher, talk about the ecological advantages of activated floodplains on NPR's "All Things Considered".
