Position Title
Junior Specialist

Bio

I began at CWS in Summer 2022 as a Student Assistant for the Durand group. After graduating from UC Davis in 2023 with a B.S. in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology I transitioned to my Junior Specialist role in Fall of the same year. I assist with an assortment of lab projects but my primary responsibilities are boat and otter trawl operation for studies in Suisun Marsh and the North Delta as well as processing macroinvertebrate samples. Additionally, I lead a project looking at ponds housing Sacramento perch in their historic range. We view these ponds as novel ecosystems and intend to determine what pond characteristics influence introduced perch populations. I am interested predominantly in California's fishes, native and introduced, and the roles they play in wetland ecosystems, but have a growing curiosity for the other members of wetland food webs.
